Automatic de-embedding of lumped elements

One of the nice features of Genesys is that it lets you easily mixed lumped elements with a layout in the EM solver.  I was curious, though, how is the de-embedding performed?

I believe I read somewhere that a Z-directed port is placed in the middle of the lump element's pad.  Is de-embedding performed to that point?  Or is a "via port" added to the nearest wall (top or bottom cover) and de-embedding performed to that point?

Thanks,
