vrf VRF - Compiling a '.vee' program to a '.vxe' from a runti

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 29, 2000
What you are describing would be called a "revision control system", and you
are proposing to write it in VEE.  That is entirely reasonable.  But you
might find it easier to use a commercial system.  Does your company have
other software teams that might already have such a system you can use?

I can't offer a full solution in VEE, but perhaps I can get you started.
When invoking VEE from the command line, you can use

     vee -secure myProg

to start a new instance of VEE, read "myProg.vee", save it as a .VXE file,
and exit.

You should be able to execute this command from VEE using "Execute Program
(PC)" from the I/O menu.

Hope this helps,

Subject: vrf VRF - Compiling a '.vee' program to a '.vxe' from a runtime
appli cation

Hi All,
My question may appear rather stupid but please bear with me, if I
knew the answer I wouldn't have to ask the experts.
Is it at all possible to open a file xxxx.vee and save it as a compiled
runtime version , all of this executed from another runtime application
written in vee ? This I guess would need to treat another instance of vee as
an active-X object or something of the like.
The reason is to have a release handler written in vee which prompts
the user for a file xxxx.vee and then compiles and saves the runtime file
xxxx.vxe to a central pickup point on the network from where all test stands
run the program.
This method was to be employed to ensure that the runtime version being used
was indeed compiled from the right development file and to give a full
electronic release history
Is this at all possible and if so I would be greatful for any help. Many
thanks.

Cheers,
Mark Wills

P.S. We are using Windows 95 and Vee 5.0 !!
