vrf PC Reals

Scott,

Thanks for your help.  Coincidentally, I just got Binblock to work reading a 1D array of
complex numbers.  You are right, it's a lot faster.

To Reiners:  Thanks.  You are right, IEEE-784 64-bit reals are better.  PC-DOS reals are only 32-bit.

Hi Mark,
     I can't answer your question off the top of my head, but have you
considered using the Binblock method?  I understand it is a lot faster than
any of the other methods.  In my application I have to set the instrument
manager properties 'Direct I/O' binblock to #A.  Then I can read a two
dimentional array (ie 2*401) of type binblock.  The two columns represent
the real and imaginary parts of each point so you'll need to build formulas
to output S-params or phase info.  If interested let me know.

I am using VEE to download real numbers from an HP8753 Vector Network
Analyzer.
Given that I have a PC, should I have the Analyzer send IEEE 64-bit reals
or PC compatible reals.
(These are Analyzer formats FORM3 and FORM5 respectively).  The User Manual
recommends FORM5 for a PC
but I get reals with exponents in the -300 range using that format.  FORM3
yields more realistic numbers.
