How do I use a board of an arbitrary shape in LAYOUT?

Question asked by ROB_LEFEBVRE Employee on Mar 31, 2004
To use an arbitrary board shape, you must draw an outline of the board on the substrate layer:

1. Find out from your board manufacturer what diameter drill bit they will use to cut out the board.
2. Draw ROUNDED END lines on the substrate layer using a line width equal to the drill diameter.  These lines represent the material that will be drilled.  Arcs may be permissible, but check with your manufacturer to be sure they support arcs in the Gerber data.
3. When you export files for manufacturing, be sure to export a Gerber file for the substrate layer.
