ADS 2005A may install and run on RHEL 4.0, but since 5A is not officially supported or tested on RHEL 4.0, there is no guarantee ADS 5A will install and run as expected on that version OS. Issues that may arise could range from minor annoyances to insurmountable issues that may render ADS 5A useless on that version OS. If you do decide to proceed with an unsupported configuration, please do so at your own risk.
At this point we have plans for the ADS 2006A / Momentum64 release to support RHEL 4.0. Please keep in mind that this has not been finalized yet.
Have you had any experience with RHEL 3.0 and AMD dual-core Opteron processors? I am considering an AMD machine for use with Momentum 64 and have been told by one vendor that there may be some issues with RHEL 3.0 and the dual-core chips.
I haven't heard of any problems related to running Momentum64 on dual-core PCs. Likewise I don't see anything in our internal databases suggesting any problems runnning Mom64 on dual-core/dual-CPU machines. As evidenced by KC doc # 211257, Mom64 did encounter a problem on an AMD Opteron running Redhat Fedora 3. That problem was resolved by installing a compatable libstdc++ from rpmfind.net. As stated in the doc, Fedora is not offically supported by Momentum or ADS, so I'm not too surprised that a problem was found via Fedora.
Although Momentum64 obviously runs in full 64-bit mode, it will not utilize multiple-CPUs or multiple-cores. Just something to keep in mind while shopping.
