Hi there,
did anyone ever try to run the 3070-SW (either for the Test-System or for the Development-Station) on a virtual machine software such as Virtual-PC or VirtualBox?
I´m considering this possibility because we are planning to switch over from UNIX to PC next year and the first test installations generate more problems than expected: The X-Server-Software conflicts with our more efficient Reflection-X-Software and lots of System-Settings are changed without permission. So it could be a smart solution if we could run the 3070-SW on a virtual machine.
Any experiences?

first point is that we are talking about PC's here and not UX. As you know, currently UX systems are multi user and support multiple logins - PC's do not.
That is why the pC software is available as development to be installed on users laptops and PC's for offline work. You can map and/or share drives if you need to edit files on test systems.
If you want to log onto a test system - the standard XP tools work fine, we have been able to do remote debug, but remote access tools on XP require just one user logged in - you cannot log in transparent to the testing process.
We also use a Agilent remote support tool called webex on PC's which enables the user to share and allow us to take control of the test system for application queries and support - this works really very well in making fastest support possible.
I moved from UX about 5 years ago and i would never consider to go back - whatever help you need please work with Agilent to resolve.\
thanks, Jon
