Cover-Extend technology will be available on the PC platform of testers with release 07.20, shipping in the summer timeframe. Customers on support contracts will automatically receive 07.20. Cover-Extend technology is a licensed technology and will require a license to be purchased. It will work with all VTEP technology fixtures with the addition of a small daughter board for the VTEP mux.
The CoverExtend Signal Conditioning board plugs onto the top of a VTEP mux card and adds the additional measurement requirements for CoverExtend. We communicate to the CoverExtend board with USB which is routed through the ASRU card, second row of connectors. You wire the 4 USB lines inside the fixture from the ASRU card to the CoverExtend card just like normal fixture wires.
You will need 1 USB interface kit for each tester, and 1 CoverExtend/VTEP card at a minimum for each fixture that uses CoverExtend.
The USB interface kit consist of a MINT Pin connector which will be connected into an existing ASRU. This will occupy the 2nd layer of the ASRU Mint Pin which current existing ASRU doesn't use. Cover extend will need 10 pins - 2 USB port (8 pins) and 2 pins for auxconnect 12V supply to Cover Extend Card.
For a 2 module system. The USB kit can be installed on either module 3 or module 2. During development the user can specify where he wants to put the USB connection to asru by specifying in the board config
" cards 1 asru c revision usb"
The keyword "usb" will be used by cover extend and will follow the asru slot which has a keyword "usb".
I have a question about hardware requirement for cover-extend:
1. VTEP mux card and sensors Ok
We must connect this board to the pc and VTEP mux board ???
2. Cover-Extend signal conditioner card
3. USB interface kit

Thank you for the informations.
What is the number of the ASRU used for the cover-extend with testhead with 2 module.
best regards
