I would like to try storing all the board directories in a PC connected to our network. I have 3 PC based 3070s and keep the directories local now.
My question is the theory of operation of the 3070. When it starts a program, does it load up locally or does it run real time from the PC the board directory is located in? I do not want to experience network issues such as timing problems.
I cannot find ant documentation on the operation of the 3070.
Thanks

But as far as the testplan and other files, I suppose they would have to be loaded into local controller RAM. I'm not sure though.
I also have 3 PC 3070s and want to use centrally located board files. If I manage to get around to trying it, I'll report back.
As far as operators logging in to some remote location, why? Wouldn't you just allow certain permissions available to the operators in a network folder (or another 3070 over the network) and then have the autofile point to the board files over the network?
In a domain we use domain users. You cant give "certain permissions" without a account or group to give the permissions to. How would you give the operator permissions on a dir or DFS on the server ??, you'd have to create a local "operator" user on the server!. I dont think any ICT department is going to do that. They work with domain accounts. So you log onto the 3070 with for example: operator@youdomain.local, then operator@yourdomain.local can get permissions on the server (because now its know in the domain).
The only issue is that the restricted permissions for the "operator@yourdomain.local" account have to be created (gpo). We are going to implement this here sometime this year.
In the documentation they are talking about copying ".pol" files onto the domain controller, when i showed the ICT department they looked at me as if they saw a alien
