dear experts,
I'm currently trying doing measurement of Noise Temperature of an LNA working in W Band (75-110GHz).
I would use my 8970B mode 1.1
NS is Millitech
Mixer is Millitech
LO is 83640 multiplied by a Spacek lab x 4
The problem is the 8970B is frequency limited up to 99999 MHz.
I need perform measurement up to 110 GHz.
Is there a solution ?
Thanks a lot

I thought the 8970B had an upper limit of 1600 MHz. I’m not sure about the 99999 MHz statement unless it has something to do with that 1.1 mode. Are you saying you’ve actually performed valid NF measurements above 1600 MHz? I don’t know much about the 8970B other than it is old, but I know the N8975A, Noise Figure Analyzer and an N8975AZ, Block Downconverter will perform high frequency NF measurements. You can look at the test setup and supporting documentation for the measurement at: http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/tec ... ageMode=MN
You need to look at the K99 option. The NFA and block downconverter works for high frequency NF measurements because the frequency range of the NFA is from 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz, which is within the RF output frequency range of the block downconverter of 4.5 – 18 GHz. These block downconverters are a little spendy, but any measurements in that high of a frequency band are not going to be inexpensive.
