I am trying to remotely connect to my old HP 8591EM (8590 Series) Analyzer in a VB .NET application; however I can not get the Analyzer to enter the required "remote mode" to initiate connection.
Is there a softkey or programming command to change (toggle) the state of the remote mode?
Or put the Analyser into Listen (L) or Talk (T) mode?
I understand the (LOCAL) softkey takes the Analyzer out of remote mode, but I do not know how to put the Analyzer into remote mode.

There is no special command required to put the analyzer into remote mode. The analyzer goes into remote mode automatically when you send commands to it.
Have you been able to communicate remotely with this analyzer in any way? I often use Agilent IO Libraries to establish an initial connection with an instrument. Agilent IO Libraries helps me get the instrument address correct, which is where most people get into trouble.
What address are you using?
