GPIB Error when Attempting to Toggle Smoothing

Question asked by a.stevens on May 13, 2010
I am writing a small program to semi-automate some testing with a N5230A PNA-L Network Analyzer.  The program itself is not very complicate, all it does is set the calibration and some other settings, and then save data in formated CTI and s4p files simultaneously.  I am using the IVI driver for Visual Basic 2010 to send GPIB commands to the scope.  I have been able to do almost everything easily, but I have come across some difficulty with the Smoothing setting.

I want the setting set to OFF for all three traces I am measuring (Sdd11, Sdd22, Sdd12).  However, when I pass the command "CALCualte:SMOothing?" or "CALCulate:SMOothing:STATe?", I receive the following error:

The SCPI command received has caused error number 103:
CALC measurement selection set to none.

It could easily just be that I am not understanding something fundamental about how the PNA works, but I have been working on this for quite some time with no luck.  Any explanation of what is going on or what I have to do to correct this error would be greatly appreciated.
