Hi,
I have an E4440A box which shows following error messages: Calibration failed, ATTEN_STEPS and ATTEN_STEPS_EATTEN. (Is it a single fault affect both calibration?)
My question what needs to be replaced? IF I can not correct this error in the near future, what's the consequence for the measurement?
Thanks.

These error message indicate a hardware problem. The PSA alignment calibrator signal goes through both of the mechanical attenuators and the electronic attenuator. This could be a problem with just a mechanical attenuator or just the electronic attenuator or maybe both.
In order to find the problem hardware you will need to perform further trouble shooting, this instrument is in need of service.
The calibration will not be valid and no specification would be warranted.
I would expect that you may see amplitude inaccuracies that could be from small or very large to complete loss of signal at some or maybe all attenuator settings. These inaccuracies may or may not be frequency dependent based on the possible mechanism of the hardware problem and they could be intermittent.
I wouldn't use the analyzer for anything without getting it repaired.
Best regards,
