I have opened my beloved 8563A because it started to report ERR 301 YTO UNLK and ERR 317 FREQ ACC.
I found out that A14 Frequency control assembly, which is labeled 08563-60006 has another marking 08562-60055 on the PCB (under the label). This means that PCB is quite likely exactly the same; however this is not necessarily true for the components on the board. There might be some minor differences.
There is some additional information I found on the web: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Manual number Title -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 08563-60006 08560-90016 Frequency Control 8563A
Since I have to repair my 8563A somehow I would kindly ask you if you could check if you perhaps have the A14 08562-60055 CLIP (schematics and PCB). Additionally, 8563A RF Spectrum Analyzer Service Manual would also be of great help to me, especially the section Troubleshooting an Unlocked YTO PLL and YTO Adjustment Procedure - YTO Main Coil Adjustments.
Sorry, but I can't find anything that old on our system.
With the frequency control board there were a lot of different varieties of these. Just about each model number had its own. Some of them would use the same fiberglass but they would have different parts loaded, or parts left off, depending on the frequency range of the instrument. So if you find a schematic with the 08562-60055 part number it may not be configured the same at all as the 08563-60006 is.
I managed to get a hard copy of the 8563A RF Spectrum Analyzer Service Manual. Since I have to return it to its owner I scanned the whole manual into a quite large PDF. It was quite an effort. If it is not against Agilent’s policy I am perfectly willing to share it with you (Agilent) and others.
BTW, I managed to fix ERR 301 YTO UNLK and ERR 317 FREQ ACC. Unfortunately, another issue has appeared.
I might be able to get you the A14 schematic, but you are missing a digit in the part number, it must be a 5x5 number...
