hi there,
i have 2 problemes with my 8561E spectral analyser:
i have a 538 message error...maybe someone could help me for that?
i have a very bad display ( at the bottom of the screen, it is difficult to read the indications...i tried to see with the display fonction, and put the intensity to the maximum, but no way...is there an other way to resolve the problem?
thanks, and sorry for my bad english!

is error 538 the only error you get? According to the error list this should be a problem with the IF filter, (500Hz). Is this the most narrow filter?
Before you take it apart to look at the display, I once saw a display that had so much dust behind the first glass that it looked as if it was a tube-problem. The four hex-screws on the front arround the display hold the glass in place. With the instrument standing with the display up - remove these screws and carfully take out the glass. With a dry cloth you can sweep of the dust. If you're lucky this is the only problem. If this doesn't help, I would suggest to remove the display unit and exchange all the electrolytic capacitors in it. After changing these you don't have to do any recalibration. I don't know but I could imagine that the display unit can be hard to take out of the instrument. I made it on a 8591 and it was qoute easy on that one, but on my 8563 the display unit would probably be harder to get out.
!! Please also note that you must be very careful making any operations inside the display unit. High voltages are present and in some cases you must not operate the display without the shields! These shields prevent X-ray radiation from the tube!
