DC frequency component

Hi all,

I have a question about the dc frequency component.

What is the origin of the peak at 0 Hz? As you probably know, every signal has a dc component, even if nothing is connected to the spectrum analyzer you will always see the peak at 0 Hz. If you had a pure sine wave going into the spectrum analyzer that would give me a delta peak at the frequency of the sine but also at 0 Hz. Why is that?

Thanks for your help.
