I have a 8591E, which seems to be working in order.
One problem appears: when I switch video averageing ON, the approx. 2 div signal difference on screen (5dB/div) decreases to approx. 1 div, and the absolute amplitude level also decrease by about 1 div.
Could anyone please give me a guess, what could cause this problem.
Thanks
George

Problem is now solved.
Perhaps others may benefit to know (unfortunately I have not read the
manual in detail enough), that in normal position the default detector
used by the 8591E is the "peak" detector.
When video average switched on, the analyzer automatically changes the
detector type to "sample", so average naturally decreases.
You can of course switch the detector back (if you need) to "peak" and
so no decrease of level would happen.
