I would like to disable the touch screen on a couple of Infiniiums that we have. I have tried using the check box under Utilities/User preferences and upon a power cycle it will reset back to on. Is there a command that can be sent to disable it? The problem is that it is in an ATE rack and the operators will occasionally hit the screen to point at a signal which in turn takes it out of remote and into local causing the subsequent tests to fail.
Thanks for the quick reply. My S/W rev. is 05.50.0001. I also noticed today that the two scopes I have, do act a little erratic when it comes to that setting. I deselected the touch panel and did a front panel reboot on one of the scopes, when it restarted the check box was completely gone. I shut it down again, this time removing power, and it returned. It then appeared to function as one would expect, the touch panel disabled even after a power cycle, until the operator ran the system which re-engaged the touch screen.
I went to my other system and the check box on that is gone like the other scope was during the soft reboot. I cycled power on it and it still did not return leaving the touch screen functioning. I think we are going to give the new software a whirl and see what shakes out. Hope this makes sense.

1. Upgrade to the latest sw rev 5.71 from Agilent.com. That may or may not fix your problem. My scopes work correctly so I cannot verify the fix.
2. Recovery the scope to original condition. Press and hold the control key when you turn on the scope. Hold the control key pressed until you see the Ghost recovery screen. Make sure you save any critical data first because a recovery will blow all away.
3. I can put rev 5.50 on the ftp site for you. Use the control panel to remove rev 5.50. reboot the scope. Copy the replacement 5.50 rev to the scope desk top, Install rev 5.50 from the scope desk top. Maybe that will bring the touch screen key back.
Let me know what you decide to do and how I can help.
Both the 5.50 and the latest 5.71 exhibit the same problem. I have a third, spare scope, on my desk to experiment with and it started off with 5.50. I loaded the 5.71 and the problem persisted. So, I think going back to 5.50 won't help much. I could maybe figure out how to do a screen capture of something if would help. Some folks here have suggested using a piece of clear plastic taped to the front of the scope, covering the screen as a rudimentary form of a "disable". As a solution, I think that is a bit in-elegant and makes a 15k scope look like ****.

It sounds like there is still a bug in the older code with the touch enable/disable check box. I will report it to the lab. The problem is that we have trouble duplicating it here using the same software revs so that makes it hard for the lab to fix.
That is were the larger part of the problem lies, the scope will not remote back if it is enabled locally via the touch screen. It will run fine with the testplan until someone fiddles with the screen which rules out a GPIB address problem.
