Does anyone know if you can change the LO frequency while in a 1.4 measurement mode without affecting the calibration? From what I can tell as long as I don't change the start, stop, step or freq increment it should be ok.
I want to use multiple LNBs to make a noise temp measurement without recalibrating between each set of measurements. I'm just making a couple of hot/cold measurements so I'm only interested in the delta anyways.

I don’t know about being able to change the LO frequency while in a 1.4 measurement on the 8970B, but perhaps saving/recalling instrument states could be used as a workaround. I also don’t know if the 8970B will store states, but if it does, one possible solution is to set up “measurement A” with the correct instrument settings and then perform a calibration with the noise source connected. Save that as state 1. Then set up “measurement B” and perform the calibration and save that as state 2. Then each measurement you want to perform is simply recalling a previously saved and calibrated state.
