Good day,
I have recently taken a job as lab IT person for a professor at my school. She studies photonic lattices and uses an older Agilent OSA
to analyse crystals.
My job is to automate this process as much as possible. She currently stores OSA data on floppy and transfers data (5k files) over to the workstations.
I don't have the model number with me as I write, but wanted to confirm my idea, that any OSA with GPIB should be able to direct ouput
to a hard drive formatted correctly. I'm guessing FAT32...?
Would someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll post back as soon as I get more details.
I look forward to being on this forum quite a bit and eventually being helpful myself.

EDIT: I plan to use MATLAB to control the OSA via GPIB.

A network drive sounds like a simple solution. I have been under the impression that such a thing was not possible.Possibly because of the age of the unit.
I suppose I really need the exact model now to move forward.
I plan on setting up a Linux network in this lab. Do you suggest I use a windows machine for any remote controlling of the OSA ? It appears that
there is some support for GPIB interfaces and Linux, however I anticipater quite a hassle.
TIA,
