N9030A setup instruction

I am programming the instrument remotely, using a C++ program. Currently, I only use *OPC during measurements. During the set-up phase, I send out the instructions, following each with a ":SYST:ERR?" query. The question has come up as to whether this is sufficient. If I get back good status from the query, can I be certain that the setup instruction completed? Should I use a *OPC after the final setup instruction and poll for completion? Or even after each individual instruction?
