Determining Frequency Deviation Using Bessell Null

How is Frequency Deviation calculated using Carrier Null. Can someone please explain the method/formula?

Hi Paul -
Before dedicated FM demodulators were in Spectrum Analyzers, this is how one measured FM deviation. The Bessel Null technique was used for calibration and the Slope Detection technique was used for measurements.

Chapter 3 (pages 14-20) discusses Frequency Modulation.
