Hello all, newbie here. I'm connecting to my DSA through a GPIB connection, and the ultimate goal is to get the analyzer to save/load instrument states from my PC.
First I set the DSA to be a "System Controller", but when I try to set the default disk to "External Disk", it gives me the error message "external disk not responding". I checked the address on the PC and the DSA and both are set to 0.
I switched the machine back to "Addressable Only" and sent it the command :MMEM:MSIS 'EXT:C:'. It doesn't give me any errors, but it still doesn't set the default disk to external. Any ideas?
Best,
Kyri

The external disk the analyzer is expecting is a "GPIB disk drive" such as the old HP 9122C. PC connected to the analyzer over GPIB is not a supported "external disk."
I would suggest saving the state files to the RAM or NVRAM or the 35670A floppy drive and then use the Agilent Datalink PC program to transfer the files from the analyzer to the PC over GPIB.

Please note that you need to have Instrument Basic option present in the analyzer for the Datalink to work. Also, the Datalink only works in one direction as far as file transfers are concerned - from the analyzer to the PC and not the other way around.
