Hello,
I have recently bought an HP8562A made in 1989. It shows an error 488 100 but it was missing the backup battery.
Actually it's working but using the spans below 20 Khz (10-5-2.5 Khz) the calibration signal and/or other signals are about
5dB down than the -10 dBm reference line.
The error 488 sometimes disappears but it is important the fact that the 10 Mhz reference oscillator (oven) is very out of
10 Mhz and this is not adjustable.
Do you have any ideas ?
Thanks and my greatest 73s to the mithic John Miles,

when the RBW is 100 Hz the signal level drops about 6dB and the analyzer shows "Error 488 RBW 100".
In addition I remember the fact that I received this device without the backup battery, maybe it's this ?
Maybe it's the digital filter ?
Any idea, guys ?
Thanks for your help,
