I'm sure this is a common problem when a scope is sent in for calibration or repair. The user has set up the instrument with a username/pasword. Now he has to be chased down before the instrument can be booted up and checked. How can this be done if the user can't be found or WON'T give his login credentials? Are there any service log-ins for generic Agilent scopes and other Windows-based instruments? Possibly utility programs that can be used to boot-up ?

I have heard that there are 'password crack' CD images that can be used to remove passwords from a Windows OS, but I have never used them.
To me, this sounds like an administrative problem. The scope does not belong to the user, it belongs to the company that he works for. If it must be calibrated, then he must provide access to the scope, including the ability for the calibration team to log in.
