In general, your test equipment should have higher resolution than the device that you are testing. Real-time scopes generally have 8-bit precision. In reality it's a little lower, due to noise issues, etc. You should read up on Effective Number Of Bits (ENOB).
Agilent has some high-precision digitizers, but I don't know much about them. They may have the resolution and bandwidth for this testing.
