I have a PNA-L Network Analyzer (N5230A), that I wish to access with a NI LabWindows C program running on the internal computer of the analyzer.    Basically all I'm going to do is to periodically read the markers on all 4 ports and log the data.  I have written programs for GPIB before using the NI-488 commands such as ibfind, ibrd, ibwrt….but I’m getting lost in all the aconyms SICL/VISA/SCPI/VEE etc.

Would the NI-488 low level approach work for the PNA-L?  Or do I need to use the VISA library and SCPI commands?  Can I just install my LabWindows program on the PNA-L computer and have it work or are there other drivers that I would need to load?

Any help setting me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
