Errors Using Calibrators

Dear Sir:

I was told of an electrical effect which was present in calibrators used by network analyzers.   This "effect" could arise after multiple calibrations using the same calibrator and the electrical effect could remain for long periods of time.   This electrical effect caused measurement errors.    The electrical effect was referred to me using the term, "hysteresis".

Can someone please elaborate upon residual effects which affect calibrators and offer an approximate percent error measurement result due to this effect?
