Writing memory data to E8362B with SCPI

I am using the "CALC:DATA FMEM,<val1,val2, ...,valn>" command to write memory data to an E8362B.  (Sending the data in ASCII format.)  The command will execute without errors, but it looks like the data is not actually active on the PNA.  The "Data/Mem" button (F2) remains disabled.  This leads me to believe that the data is not really getting written to the memory array.  Am I omitting any steps?
