Hello,
I need to measure the power at 6 GHz and 35 GHz at the end of a cable. The power level will be - 2 dBm and I need to do this twice a week. Due to many factors that I can not get into, the solution I had was lost. I can get my hands on a N8487A power sensor, but I can't get my hands on a N441xA meter. Getting a purchased solution will take too long. I can get my hands on a HP 436A/437A/438A. Since these meters are compatibility with the 848x sensor could I use the two combined?
Thanks

The 438A is the newest, so I would try that. But the N8487A carries the cal factors in EEPROM which the 43x series of meters can't read. You may be able to make raw measurements but they won't be corrected for cal factor. You would need to select the cal factor from the sensor's calibration data sheet, on the meter's dial, if it is in the range the dial covers, or apply the cal factors yourself after the measurement. I have not tried this myself, but I believe it can work.
