Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to split a s-parameter file in two halves in ADS. I see in internet there is an old article of Sanjeev Gupta - "Splitting S-Parameter data into two equal halves using ADS optimization". But all the links (even Keyaight's edadoc link) are not available.
Can anyone help me to find that article?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
what do you mean by "splitting into half"?
Do you want to split with respect to frequency (why?)? Tthen you can edit the corresponding Touchstone file, in which sorted frequencies are stored line by line without any wrapping directory structure. Just delte frequency records (block of lines).
If you want to spearate into port groups, then you have to be more precise about the (network) level contstrains that defines the termination of the unconnected ports. Because what you might call "splitting" means taking the full n-port and connecting just a sub-group of ports, while terminating the remainig ones with a known, constant, and most likely passive termination (can also be short or open). There's no generic way cutting the n-port into two pieces ! You can duplicate it while connecting just a half of the ports (for constant termination of the remaining), but that's it.
If you think of "splitting" in terms of physical segmantation, then you need to suppose an internal structure = a model (based on a priori knowledge and information of the underlying physical structure) and you're backfitting the coefficients of you're postulated model. Feasible, but's that's something completely different. E.g. transmission lines are a typical scenario. But once there are launchers attached to the lines on both ends, there's not exact way to determmine the inner transmission line, even for given symmetry or when dealing with close to lossless structures. You're facing a fundamental observation problem.
