Hi,
I have a older HP 3458A, SN 2823A18621, that has stated having a System Error 114, Multislope Rundown Conversion on Start up. Then it goes away and passes ACAL. The Keysight Service Note 3458A-07B states that the last SN was 2823A08000. Any ideas what to do? Thank you.
Your later S/N is probably not affected. Anyhow, there is also no known HW workaround for that random error from SN-07B, as the actual HW problem is not described there in detail.
It might also be that the high speed comparators from ELANTEC have difficulties, and there are no spare parts left (neither piggy back replacement) to repair the board.
Third possibility may be an upcoming problem with the optical links, which can still be repaired.
The difficulty is the cost linked to this error. The A3 board is the A/D converter, which would very probably be replaced by the new re-designed version only, so no refurbished or old boards available any more, see 'replacement list' of the 3458A. That'll be $2200, or so.
So you have to decide on your own, if you can live with that sporadic failure in the moment, until later it'll be a permanent one, in which case you have no other chance than to replace the whole board.
