We use the SWITCH U2653A in many departments of our company and we have faced a problem, when we are making tests with our bench, if we lose the communication with the computer for any reason ( For example: disconnecting the USB cable) the active digital outputs remain active. I would like to know if there is a functionality to deactivate the output automatically in case of losing communication with the computer. This situation can cause serious problems in our company because the temperature can increase so fast if the outputs remain active for any reason.
I appreciate your help.
Best regards,
Hi,
I looked at the datasheet on this instrument, and not surprisingly, I do not see any automatic system to disable the outputs in case of communication loss. And that makes sense that it is built like that in my opinion, in your case it causes a problem, but the reverse can also be by a deactivation of the control lines by loss of communication. In addition, if it was necessary that at all the losses of communication the lines of control change state ...
Use your PC and control software, check the time-sensitive communication either by querying the device (for example, * idn?) or use one of the control lines if there are any available, if there is no answer for a while, activate any ALARM. It does not cover all the possibilities, but it is a minimum.
The use of one of the output ports offers the advantage that it would be independent of the PC, because if it was unable to activate an alarm for any reason whatsoever (shutdown for example), the circuit connected to an output port could activate an alarm, audible and / or visual if it no longer receives state variations on its control port.
