Is this (NA) mode the only mode we need to wait for it to warm up, right? For how long? still 30 mins?
To answer your question correctly, it would be helpful if you could share your application/measurement and the accuracy goal which you have.
Just two port S parameter measurment.
Field Fox has manufacture pre-cal information saved in it to compensate all measurement in Spectrum Analyzer mode. I cannot find any information about similiar pre-cal information saved in it for its Vector Network Analyzer mode.
I am not quite sure what pre-cal refers to, but it is correct that the spectrum analyzer mode in FieldFox has no warm-up requirements. In VNA mode, waiting 30-60 minutes after power up will provide you with a more stable measurement. If you use the Cable and Antenna analyzer mode (CAT), that behaves similar to VNA mode. But for two-port S-parameters, the VNA mode is what I presume you are using. It's also really a question of how much accuracy and stability you want. If you have a 1 dB margin, and the other components in your system also have high uncertainty, then you can turn on the box and use it. If you're after traceable data, you have high-quality low drift cables, the temperature environment is stable, then you want to make sure your FieldFox is also as stable as can be.
