I can set my data logger (34970A) to acquire AC voltage at about 50 reading per second, or 20ms per data. I would like to ask how is the data logger measure an AC value? Is it sampling the signal at a much higher rate (higher than 50 sample/second) and calculate the root-mean-square AC value, then only show the result at 50 per second?If so, what is the sampling rate of the data logger?

If it is not sampling at a much higher rate, but at 50 sample/second, how can it calculate the AC value for each data shown?

Hi, 34970A use a RMS to DC converter (AD637), it's not a digital circuit. The result DC voltage go to ADC.
