We have a 6035A Power Supply. I am trying to use it to power a 300V ignition coil for testing. I am able to set the voltage to 300V and the current limit to 2A. When I try to set these values with the load connected, there is no output. I don't get any errors or OVP. I just have no output. What am I doing wrong? I also note that it always switches to constant current. I don't want that. I want to use constant voltage. Please help.
Hi,
I guess when you talk about ignition coil, you talk about the whole circuit that goes with (active switch and control). Otherwise, it is clear that we can only apply voltage to a coil, because in DC, it is a short circuit and power supply will display CC mode and there will be no output. If the control circuit is there with the ignition coil, I suppose you adjusted current limit for the max current.
If the control circuit is there with the ignition coil, I assume you have set the current limit for the maximum current of the load, ie 2A. If this is the case, maybe the circuit, when switching, exceeds this limit and the power supply falls into CC mode (constant current). Have more detail on the circuit or setup. I have an 6010A, similar to 6035A but 200V only and 17A max.
