I have a 39470A data acquistion switch using Benchlink 3 on a Window 7 computer and all works well. I will need to swap the computer with Windows 10 Enterprise machine. I installed the I/O libraries and Benchlink on the new computer but get the following error when trying to find the device. I have tried using the USB / serial adapter and connecting directly to the serial port. I have checked the serial com 1 port settings and all are default. What should I try next?

Hi,
First: my Windows 10 versions
1- tested on Windows 10 Famillial 1803 PC with GPIB or USB to RS-232 serial adaptor
2- tested on Windows 10 Professional 1803 PC with GPIB or USB to RS-232 serial adaptor
I used to test interface GPIB or USB adaptor, IO libraries version 18.1.23218.2. With Connection expert I verified that communication works fine. You must use ADD GPIB INSTRUMENT or REMOTE SERIAL INSTRUMENT if the 34970a isn't there. Use interactiveIO to test communication (send and read *idn? command) :
For USB to RS-232
- use a null modem cable
- verify witch port com is use when you plug USB cable to computer (windows device manager). Use this information in command expert to test communication.
- verify that com port setup is same for PC and 34970a (button shift+interface, the upper left button)
For GPIB
verify that GPIB port setup is same for PC and 34970a (button shift+interface, the upper left button)
If everything works fine with Command Expert, go to Benchlink DATAlogger (run as administrator)
I my case, tested with success on DATAlogger 3 version 4.3
I use ADD instrument, auto detect and Software detect GPIB or USB to serial adaptor without any problem.
I have done some scan without problem.
I suggest to verify your setup, unfortunately, I don't have the Windows 10 Enterprise version, I don't think that it's the problem.
Regards
Yves
