Hi everyone,

Our lab has a used Agilent 1100 HPLC system and there is an LAN jetdirect card installed in one of the modules.  Originally the 1100 connects to a windoes 98 PC via ISA-GPIB.  Now we want to configure the 1100 with a new PC using LAN communication (because the new PC only has PCI-slots but not ISA slots).  Unfortunately the fluorescence detector is an older model and does not support LAN.  The service person therefore told me that I must purchase a PCI-GPIB ($660) card and give up on LAN.  My question is, from my understanding the detector is connecting to another module via GPIB, why isn't it possible for that module to connect to the PC via LAN?
