8510b status byte - Does anyone have the "key" for

I'm still fooling around with our old 8510b which I'm using for some long term testing procedures to not tie up our new equipment.

I'm using VS2005/VB.NET and the agilent Visa library. I'm running into some timing issues using a NI High Speed USB GPIB adaptor. I need a way to be sure my last instruction finished without resorting to putting the thread asleep for lengthy "best guess".

This unit doesn't seem to support *OPC so I found I can use OUTPSTAT. However, when I read the string back I get "000,000" which to me appears to be TWO status bytes???

I've come to figure out (by trial and error) that "000,000" is good and anything else means something is wrong or didn't finish.

It would be VERY helpful if anyone could tell me what each of the bits mean.

Thanks,
-Chris
