Hi luojianhui,
It does seem that E5500-60003 is what you're looking for. Note that you can search for parts with our Find-A-Part tool (works best on Internet Explorer). We don't sell this adapter the normal way anymore, but I recommend that you call our support specialists at the number found in the "Contact an Expert" link on the product page for the E5503B to see if there's anything they can do to get you this part and what that might cost.
Hi, Hamilton,
Can you elaborate how to use a 89410a or E4401a or E4402a as an external analyzer instead of Old Digitizer Board?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Timothy
The P/N software allows you the choice of which analyzer you want to use for your measurements. The old digitizer board would only do offsets .001 Hz to 100 KHz. The 89410A will do .01 Hz - 10 MHz. The E4401 or 2 with option 1DR and 1D5 will do offsets of 1 Hz - 100 MHz. 100 MHz is the limit of the PN heads.
Hi, Hamilton:
Thank you very much for your reply. Do you know on how to setup E4401 or 2 for E5503B system?
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Timothy
You only need to select the model you are using. Select the address the instrument is at. It should not conflict with any other instrument. Connect the analyzer IF output out of the 70420A to the RF input of the Spectrum analyzer. Connect the time base from the 70420 system to the spectrum analyzer time base in. That's all there is to it.
No, the spectrum analyzer is simply does the IF measurement as an alternative to the digitizer board. Based on your offset measurement requirements. The external spectrum analyzer is required for any offset measurements >100KHz. We use our 89410A as we have testing from 1 Hz to 10 MHz offsets we need to measure. Keysight has a downloadable User's Guide that shows how to connect up the instruments for proper measurement. Exactly what are you using this system to measure?
OK. Thank you. I am try to measure phase noise for our Synthesizer that has output Frequency 15 GHz. I would like get plot for offset measurements > 100KHz. Can you share the link of the Keysight's downloadable user's Guide that show how to connect up the instruments for proper measurement please?
If you go to the product page on the main website. Then on the product page you will see a tab for manuals and documentation. Under that Tab a list of downloadable documents will come up. You will find what you a looking for there.
Hi, Hamilton:
Thank you very much for your help. We were able to make our E5503B Phase noise system work.
I have one question, we have Agilent E4407B analyzer with option 1D5 and 1DR. As you mentioned, it can do Offset 1 Hz - 100 MHz.
However, when I did Confidence.pnm. My phase noise plot only start from 10K. My understanding is that E4401/E4407 with Option 1D5 and 1DR analyzer's start Frequency is 9kHz, so they can only measure Offset>9kHz, right?
The following is the Plot of Confidence Test. There is no data <10KHz. Could you confirm that please?
Thank you very much for your help.
Regards,
Timothy
Timothy,
Yes, the E4407B records from 10 KHz – 10 MHz. Do you have the original computer system that came with the phase noise system? If so, there should be a digitizer board installed. This will make measurements below 10 KHz. It’s range is .001 Hz – 100 KHz. If you do not, you will need another analyzer to do measurements close in. I believe your choices are 3561A, 3562A and/or 89410A.

Dave Hamilton
Hi, Hamilton:
Good evening. We now have 8644B source and 89410A and E4407B.
We have E5503B system. I looked at the user manual and could not find how to connector 89410A to the HP70420A OPT001 Test set.
My understanding is:
1). Connect 89410A to "Analyzer <100KHz" on HP70420A OPT 001 Test Set (we not not 100% sure)
2). Connect E4407B to "RF Analyzer" on HP70420A OPT 001 Test Set (we are sure this is correct)
The E5500 Software will sweep DC~100KHz using 89410A and 100KHz to 100M using E4407B through GPIB command.
How do you connect your 89410A in your system?
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Timothy
