8753C Power Meter Cal doesn't change trace

VNA newbie here, long time HP fan.  I've added a 437B / 8482A power meter / sensor to my 8753C and just attempted for the first time to do a power meter cal on an insertion loss measurement of a resistive splitter.  The splitter goes to ports 1 and 2 on the VNA, and to the power meter.

After running a cal sweep, I expected to perhaps see corrections along the trace up to +/- 1dB or so compared to when PWRMTR cal is off.  I see no change.  I have not run a response cal so this 8753C shows about a +/- 0.5dB error in the splitter's (verified) almost flat response.

Are my expectations incorrect?  Shouldn't I see the uncorrected response "tighten up" or do I have an old unit here with exceptional output level accuracy?
