loss insertion of a connector

Hi there,

I need to do an RF measurement to get insertion loss of a coaxial connector and I need to be quite accurate because this losses are below 0.1 dB.

To do this, I calibrated "thought" with a cable of 20 cm long. Then, I measured S21 with another cable with the connector inserted in the middle (the total lengh is the same : 20 cm).

Do you think that there is a better way to to measure this loss insertion because my result is very noisy (and I have some positive insertion loss above 2 GHz...) !

Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
