In order to boost the port power of a VNA to do measurements such as LO port match, you must place a booster amplifier between the VNA's signal source and the test port coupler. In order to do so, you need access to the VNA's test set, which requires Option 014 (for the PNA). This option gives you front-panel RF jumpers, giving you the required access. You can also use the PNA to measure conversion loss and isolation. Conversion loss can be measured very accurately using Option 082 (Scalar Converter Measurements), which does input and output match correction during a transmission measurement. Option 083 (Frequency Converter Application) does this as well, but adds phase and group delay measurements. These options can control an external signal generator that can be used as a fixed or swept LO signal.
All of the options mentioned above can be retrofitted into your analyzer. Also, Agilent has several application notes on Agilent.com that describe mixer measurements.
