I would like to find out a suitable technique to measure skew with a PNA (in my case N5230C). I have tried looking at the phase difference between S31 and S42, but I am having difficulty coming up with skew measurement value (e.g. skew between two measured lines is 40ps) that I could correlate with a time-domain measurement.

Any tips or ideas on how to approach this greatly appreciated !

I assume line 1 is between ports 1 and 3 and line 2 is between ports 2 and 4. In that case, I would look at the delay of S42/S31. Equation editor should be able to give you S42/S31 and use group delay format for display. Add maybe 10-20% smoothing. Let me know how it works.

(You might also try the time domain transform on S42/S31 trace and locate the peak using linear magnitude format, no smoothing.)
