Hello,
I have a generator 83712B in which I installed an attenuator 110db , and validated the presence of the attenuator.
I tested the attenuator on the table and it works very well.
a single decade does not work there is no voltage variation on the decade 40db blue connector I have access only a single decade 40db.
Is there a programming action needed other than the one that consits to validate the presence of the attenuator?
is there a truth table of the blue HE10 connector?
is there a diagram of this attenuator control?
in advance thank you for your answers,
, best regards,
Alain F1GXV.
Hello Alain,
The 83712B has been out of service since 2007, so it might be difficult to find any replacement parts should you need them.
Never-the-less, I can offer the following path for you to take to attempt to fix the problem:
First, I understand that your attenuator is working well, so the next step is to verify the output path. I found these procedures on page 1-60 (pdf 74) of the instruments service guide Service Guide HP 83711A/12A and HP 83711B/12B Synthesized CW Generators
If you follow the above instructions, you should be able to pinpoint where the problem lies. Also included in the document are schematics of the instrument.
Keysight has made efforts to have electronic copies of User and Service guides for obsolete products. All available documents are found under the “Document Library” tab on the product page. 83712B Synthesized CW Generator, 10 MHz to 20 GHz [Obsolete] | Keysight (formerly Agilent’s Electronic Measurement)
You may also find additional help by checking out the links on this page: Manuals for Discontinued Keysight, Agilent and Hewlett-Packard Test Equipment
I hope this helps!
