I hope you can help me with my problem.
I am getting 702 "cal:secured" error when I tried to command"CAL?" even though I was able to unsecure it.
Hi, this is below, the procedure to unsecure unit for calibration.
I already did that. I think I was able to unsecure the unit using that procedure. When I tried to send "CAL:SEC:STAT?" command, the unit response is 0. However when I tried to command "CAL?" (after I sent CAL:VAL command), the response is +1, and there was still error 702 "cal:secured" that appeared in the unit.
Is there a jumper (hardware) inside the unit that can unsecure it?
with my 34970A, when I removed cover, there are two exposed pads on the bottom side of instrument named "CAL UNLOCK". In this case, it's possible to use theses pads to unsecure CAL (short between pads). I don't know if there are something like that with 34980A, I didn't fine any information in service manual.
I found in user manual that "You can unsecure the instrument from the remote interface only. ". Command is CAL:SECURE:STATE OFF,AT34980. (with old code)
I do not know why the command "CAL?" put the unit in secure mode, but I tried with my 34970A (same commands), and I have the same behavior. Is it possible that the command "CAL?" is the last command to send when all CAL DATA are entered, or send the command "CAL" without "?" to memorize each of the values ... I can say (I didn't try a calibration).
Sorry for not finding a solution to help you.
Thank you Yves.
I will try "CAL" without "?" later today.
The "CAL?" is working in other units. I just encountered this error only on the unit I tried to calibrate yesterday.
Just to be sure, do you get the same thing as I do below with this sequence?
-> cal:sec:stat off,at34980 or whatever code you have set-> cal:sec:stat?<- 0
If you get that and CAL? still returns the "cal secured" error, then something is broken. You might try updating the firmware, but I'm not sure that will help. I have 2.51 firmware in mine. With no CAL:VALue set, CAL? should error and SYST:ERR? return error +707, "Cal: signal measurement out of range"
The firmware in our unit is Mainframe 1.05-1.05, Front Panel 2.07, and DMM 1.01
1.05 is extremely old 34980A firmware that was released shortly after introduction in 2003. There have been many defect fixes and additions since then. I strongly recommend that you download the current 2.51 firmware and install it. This can be found on the 34980A product web page under Technical Support. https://www.keysight.com/main/software.jspx?ckey=548601&lc=eng&cc=US&nid=-33260.536894538&id=548601
If updating the firmware didn't fix the problem, the following diagnostic command sequence should straighten it out.
diag:ing:rec? This should return "0"
cal:sec:stat? should return "0"
diag:ing:send "cal:sec:stat on,AG34980A" assuming that the default security password is set
diag:ing:rec? should return 1
diag:ing:send "cal:sec:stat off,AG34980A"
diag:ing:rec? should return "0"
Thank you for your support. I'll try it once I get the unit.
