I have a WATLOW 942 controller that I routinely communicate with via a serial port on my laptop's serial interface on the docking station. We received a new laptop where the docking station does not have a serial port. We do have a USB to serial interface cable, but I have not figured out yet how to use ASRL using the examples in these threads. I can get connection expert to see the serial controller, but I can't seem to send a simple command. Any thoughts?
Enclosed is the serial setup that works fine. Only caveat is \r is the terminator and EOL.
troubleshooting 101:
(1) bring up hyperterminal or equiv and try talking to the controller.
(2) If (1) works then you have a configuration problem in connection expert
(3) If (1) doesn't work then either you have incorrect config for the controller or there's a problem with the controller or interface or, more likely, a syntax problem.
If you are stuck, bypassing the keysight code will make it much more likely that the Watlow support folks will help you.
Since this is serial, most likely issue is config. Post what you find.
