I wonder if N7555A Ecal can be use as Noise Figure tuner for PNA-X. Any issue to used that Ecal as a tune?
There appears to be a bug in the firmware preventing these new ECals from being used as a tuner for a vector NF calibration. they can be used for performing the S-Parameter cals and we have one of our engineers looking into why it is not showing up as a tuner. I will update you here when we have more information.
Keep in mind that we have not yet evaluated these new ECals for the purpose of acting as a tuner for the vector NF calibration. the performance may not be the same as the results you get with other ECal models even once we solve the software issue.
I have to correct my previous reply. The N7555A family of ECals can not be used as a tuner for the noise figure vector calibration BY DESIGN. In other words, it is not a bug!!!
Basically the reason is lack of evaluation and concern about its performance relative to the larger ECal modules that have better temperature stability.
Temperature concern should not be much of an issue if you perform the measurement in lab environment with temperature control.
It might be an issue if you need to measure Noise Figure way below 1dB, however if you need to measure DUT that have let say 3dB Noise and return loss 5dB, the temperature of the tuner probably have much lower impac as compare the mismatch.
The situation remind me the Noise figure Analyzer and old Noise Source, where you had to measure the temperature before you measure to get accurate data.
