I am attempting to measure the phase difference between two settings of an amplifier. The phase **** over the entire band is greater than 360 degrees, sometimes greater than 720 degrees. Because the phase measurement is limited to +/-180 degrees, when the phase exceeds these limits it is reset to the end of the opposite limit resulting in an annoying discontinuity.

How would you make the phase measurement continuous using the E8362B PNA series Micorwave network Analyzer?

If this is not possible, any recommendations on removing the discontinuity from the data in ADS?

In the latest firmware revision, we have added a function called "unwrapped phase" which does not give the phase wrap. Thus, you phase trace will be linear. I find it very handy to use. You can sometimes run into trouble if the phase response has more than 180 degress per point, which of course we can't detect. The only help for this is to increase the point count or reduce the sweep span to keep less than 180 degress per point.
