Austentitic steel for outer conductor?

Question asked by hannahscience on Nov 9, 2017

Hi everyone, I've heard that austenitic stainless steel isn't perfect for conductors and I wanted to know why? I've just got my hands on some for very little money and I've even been thinking of hardening them using this special technique and I was wondering if that coating would impact the conductor's performance even more?? I'm worried I have just wasted my money and wouldn't want to spend any more on coatings if they aren't needed in this case.
