I am trying to figure out how to measure the time delays between VM complete signals on two 34401A's. Both are triggered from a Group Execute Trigger (GET) on GPIB.
Can the 53132A do this:
Trigger (start timer) on GPIB GET
Measure the time until 1st edge on Channel 1
and
Measure the time until 1st edge on Channel 2 (could occur before or after edge on channel 1)
Return the two times
Alternatively, measure the (positive or negative ) time differences between and edge on ch.1 and and edge on ch.2.
??
For background, it's about 1 ms from GET until the edges, and I want to measure their position within about 1 us.
Hi,
53132a may return you, time interval between CH1 and CH2 on positive or negative edge, or on single channel (CH1) between positive and negative edge but not return information between BUS triggger to CH1 and to CH2 simultaneously. An external arming or BUS trigger (GET or *TRG) isn't a START event for time interval measurement, it's a TRIG or permission to do a single TI measurement and when START-STOP condition will be meet, measurement will be done.
But it is possible to do your measurement with two 53132a counter, use same START condition for both counter and TI measurement activated by GPIB GET command. If you have just one counter, TI measurement will give you that the difference of time between the two voltmeters.
